How Do You Know if You Chose the “Right” Niche?

This week’s blog post comes from Krista Martin, the President & Founder of Make Your Mark.  As a speaker and business coach, she teaches coaches and consultants how to build their business empire the easy way (using her Fast Track to Clients(tm) system). Together they craft a plan so her clients attract more customers, make more money, and have more fun.

A niche is just as important to your content marketing as it is to your overall business. In this post — and {SPOILER ALERT!} in a free webinar Krista is doing for us next week! — she is going to reveal her top secret strategies for settling down in the right niche.

Without a clear niche, your business won’t survive for very long.  Well, it’ll survive until your savings run out and you check yourself into a rehab facility from exhaustion.

And, from what I hear, rehab isn’t very cheap.

In our quest to succeed, to make it big, and to accomplish our goals, we sometimes throw conventional wisdom out of the window and try to be everything to everyone. And that sucks.  It’s a lot of work with a very little payoff.

If you’ve ever said, “I’m working so hard and I’m just not seeing any results.  No one wants to work with me,” then you might not have clearly identified your happy dance peeps.

You see, one reason that we want to avoid this is: confused people don’t buy.

Another reason we want to avoid this:  Being clear about who we DO work with makes our marketing so much easier.

OK, so I get it. I know you are smart, talented and want to help EVERYONE. That’s very noble of you.

The truth is, you can’t be an expert in everything and solve every single problem for every single person.

Nor do you want to.

Interestingly enough, when you claim your peeps, when you get really specific about who you do – and who you don’t – work with, you’ll have more clients than ever before.

They will come, and so will others that fall outside of that market. You’ll still get to work with people outside of your normal realm if you choose to do so. (Did you catch that? If you choose to.)  You’ll be so busy working with your dream clients that you may choose not to work with them.

So, how do you figure out who your ideal client is?

That’s a great question and I am so glad that you asked.

Top Secret ways to find your niche:

Next week (January 13th, to be exact), I am going to teach you how to identify your ideal client.

One top secret way that has helped my clients is to consider a younger version of yourself as your ideal client. It’s a good starting point. For example, I help my clients through the exact struggles that I faced when I first launched my business.

Oh, you’ve already identified your target market? Cool.

I have a four-question test that I’ll share, too, that’ll allow you to see if you’ve really nailed your ideal client as well as you think you have. (Even the most seasoned business owners I work with have ah-ha’s here.)

Lacy asked me to share how you can easily attract more clients and so I’m doing just that. (Please click here for the details and to reserve your front row seat).

Just like everything else, narrowing down your niche is an evolving process and the only way to figure it out is to start moving.  Get into action.

Creating a business that makes money and allows you to work with your ideal high paying clients isn’t rocket science.

It isn’t super obvious though, either.  (Believe me: I’ve made sooo many mistakes, wasted time and money and learned what to do instead.)

That’s exactly what I’ll teach you next week.

  1. I think we tend to forget this sometimes “Listen to your customers. Ask questions. Then tailor your products and services to what they really need.”

I use facebook marketing mainly but I have been using this technique lately that has giving me hundreds of clients everyday and AMAZING results.I think this technique will go viral in 2016 and you should act really really quickly before it gets too saturated.I discovered it actually last week here: http://myhugelistsecret.com/myhugelist.html
